Livestock Transit Pro ("LPO," "Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates the LPO platform, a marketplace connecting livestock shippers with independent drivers. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services (collectively, the "Platform").

By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Platform.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Basic identity: Name, email address, username, and password
  • Profile photo: Uploaded image stored via Cloudinary
  • Role: Whether you register as a shipper or driver
  • Google account data: If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google

2.2 Driver-Specific Information

Drivers provide additional information including:

  • Professional credentials: CDL class and expiry date, USDOT number, MC number
  • Insurance: Cargo insurance coverage details
  • Vehicle information: Vehicle type, vehicle gallery photos with captions
  • Service details: Bio, specialty (e.g., horse, cattle, general livestock), primary location, service area

2.3 Shipper-Specific Information

Shippers provide additional information including:

  • Account type: Personal or business
  • Business details: Business name, type (manufacturer, retailer, distributor, e-commerce)
  • Shipping details: Primary shipping location, safety certification status

2.4 Transport & Load Data

When posting or accepting loads, we collect:

  • Origin and destination locations
  • Pickup and delivery dates and times
  • Livestock type (cattle, horses, sheep, goats, pigs) and head count
  • Space requirements and special handling notes
  • Bid amounts and negotiation details
  • Trip distances and route information

2.5 Location Data

We collect location data including primary operating locations provided in profiles and real-time GPS tracking data during active transports. Location data is used for driver matching, route optimization, and live shipment tracking visible to both parties.

2.6 Payment Information

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status but do not store full credit card numbers, CVVs, or bank account details on our servers. Please review Stripe's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle your payment data.

2.7 Communications

We collect the content of messages exchanged between shippers and drivers through our in-app messaging system, including text and image attachments. We also store notification preferences and delivery status.

2.8 Documents & Contracts

We store documents uploaded to the Platform, including contracts, proof of delivery, CDL copies, permits, and health certificates. E-signature data processed through DocuSign is stored with associated envelope IDs and signed document URLs.

2.9 Automatically Collected Information

When you use the Platform, we automatically collect:

  • Device information (browser type, operating system)
  • IP address and approximate location
  • Pages visited, features used, and timestamps
  • Error and performance data (via Sentry-compatible monitoring)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Operate the Platform: Match shippers with drivers, process bids, facilitate co-shipping, and enable live tracking
  • Create and manage accounts: Authenticate users, maintain profiles, and manage subscriptions
  • Process payments: Handle subscription billing, bid payments, and co-shipping fees through Stripe
  • Enable communication: Power in-app messaging between shippers and drivers and deliver notifications
  • Facilitate contracts: Generate, deliver, and store contracts with e-signatures via DocuSign
  • Build trust: Display driver profiles, reviews, ratings, credentials, and vehicle information to shippers
  • Improve the Platform: Analyze usage patterns, diagnose technical issues, and enhance features
  • Ensure safety: Verify driver credentials, monitor compliance, and address disputes
  • Send communications: Deliver service-related emails including account notifications, booking confirmations, and platform updates

4. Information Sharing & Disclosure

4.1 Between Users

To facilitate livestock transport, we share relevant information between shippers and drivers, including profile details (name, photo, bio, location, vehicle info, ratings), load and transport details, and real-time tracking data during active shipments.

4.2 Third-Party Service Providers

We share data with trusted third-party services that help us operate the Platform:

  • Stripe: Payment processing and subscription management
  • Cloudinary: Profile and vehicle image storage
  • DocuSign: Electronic contract signing
  • Mapbox: Location autocomplete and mapping services
  • Sentry/GlitchTip: Error tracking and performance monitoring

These providers only receive data necessary to perform their services and are bound by their own privacy policies.

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of LPO, our users, or the public.

4.4 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. After account deletion, we may retain certain data for a reasonable period to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain business records. Anonymized or aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure password hashing, JWT-based authentication with token expiration and refresh mechanisms, and access controls limiting data visibility to authorized users. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information through your profile settings
  • Deletion: Delete your account and associated data through the Platform's account settings
  • Portability: Request your data in a portable format
  • Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications (service-related emails are non-optional while your account is active)

8. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication (session management via NextAuth), remembering preferences, and analytics. Essential cookies are required for the Platform to function. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings, but disabling essential cookies may impair Platform functionality.

9. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly.

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or prominent notice on the Platform. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
